Group project — Game designer & artist

01. Context

Inky Adventures is a mobile platformer-puzzle where picture and play come from the same line of ink. Draw on the canvas to platform through the level.

02. My Work

This was a group project. I worked as game designer. I designed levels, playtested and prototyped mechanics, and drew and animated everything.

My only goal was to make drawing on a canvas fun and creative. We wanted players to use their creativity and solve the level however they can. We never wanted one solution, and that was my work.

Therefore every time I designed mechanics, I tried to think as much as possible about the creativity of other players, creating room for them.

Design Goals

  • Give the player a space for creativity.
  • Make drawing a platform interesting.
  • Make an easily understandable mobile game.

Learning Outcomes

  • I gave players systems and rules, not solutions, so they can use them against the game.
  • Mobile game polishing and shipping.
  • Make the game understandable for everyone.

03. Software used

  • Unity
  • Photoshop
  • Notion
  • GitHub

Picture as system
Ink is not a coat of paint. The line is how the world is supposed to feel when you move — art direction and game feel as one decision.
What I owned
Game design and art. Worlds, characters, and the feeling of the first screen.
The collaboration
A group project: handing off, arguing, and locking a look so the game does not become any adventure.
